Giuliana Prucca, founder and artistic director of AVARIE, will also present her book Devenir minéral – critical essay on mineral matter in art and literature, published by L’éditeur du dimanche.

INDIECON is a joint effort of independent magazine, book, art print, zine, newsletter, podcast and website publishers from all over the world. The three-day publishing festival is based at Hamburg’s Oberhafen, a former freight yard now creative quarter right in the city centre.

Founded in 2014, Indiecon has since developed into a regular platform for an international scene of publishers – and become an annual destination for visitors from media, arts, book trade and the creative industries. In 2024, more than 140 publishers from 60 cities in 30 countries including India, Japan, USA, Ukraine, South Korea, Peru and Taiwan will exhibit their work.

Indiecon is powered by an ever-growning community of independent publishers who participate as organizers, exhibitors, speakers or hosts for workshops and roundtables.

KAMERA CAHIERS are special edition issues, accompanying KAMERA SERIES | experimental films and printed matter.

Independent artists’ booklets to collect, curated and designed by Valentina Besegher Scotti and Giuliana Prucca, they compile a missing image or an unreleased second of a film, expanded to 24 pages, and perfomed writings coming from texts, scripts, books, notes. They contain a small piece directly removed from the exhibition.

Published in 75 numbered copies by AVARIE and Labor Neunzehn, cahiers’ covers are printed in letterpress by Archivio Tipografico with lead typeface Magister designed by Aldo Novarese in 1966.

AVARIE is a Paris/Berlin based independent publisher founded in 2012 by Giuliana Prucca, specializing in contemporary art and photo books and exploring the relationship between texts and images, body and space. With thoughtful stylistic choices, accurate studies on contents and particular attention to the quality of materials, AVARIE sees books as a jamming incident in the system: a privileged space of creation that results from a close collaboration with the artist and the graphic designer, at the outskirts of commercial production.
