Labor Neunzehn is pleased to invite you to a special concert for MONATS DER ZEITGENÖSSISCHES MUSIK.
This evening will present a double sets with two different projects. The first one is the new Alessandra Novaga’s solo project, »The Artistic Image Is Always a Miracle«, the second one is Stefano Pilia’s »Spiralis Aurea«.

»The Artistic Image Is Always a Miracle«, is the new Novaga’s release via Die Schachtel. This project is about Andrej Tarkovskij’s cinema, imagery, idea of the connection of art and spirituality, and the Johann Sebastian Bach’s music used in his movies.

»Spiralis Aurea« is all composed by Stefano Pilia. Drawing its title from the Golden Spiral – also known as the golden ratio, golden section, golden mean, or divine proportion – a mathematical formula and geometric form that has maintained both mystical and creative significance for millennia, each of the 12 works that comprise “Spiralis Aurea” began with a figure or process that is both geometric and symbolic, drawn by Pilia, that slowly translated into tangible organizations of sound.

BIO
Alessandra Novaga is a Milan based guitarist and composer. For years she has been exploring the possible territories in which her instrument can lead her. She has crossed the classical territories, in which she trained, graduating from the Musik Akademie in Basel, until reaching impalpable abstractions without placing limits on one or the other. The sound, the meanings, the encounters and the narratives are the elements that guide her.In addition to her solo projects, her collaborations currently see her often playing with Stefano Pilia, and with the trio of which she is co-founder, What We do When in Silence, together with Nicola Ratti and Enrico Malatesta. In recent years she has collaborated with Loren Connors, Elliot Sharp, Adrian Utley, Sandro Mussida, Kid Millions, Object Collection, Patrizia Oliva, Elena Kakaliagou. Her music was published on Die Schachtel, Blume, Setola di Maiale, Coherent States, Long Song among the others. She has played in festivals such as Donaueschinger Musiktage (DE), Himera Festivaali (FN), Angelica (Bologna) Festival dei Due Mondi (Spoleto), Cafè OTO (London) and ISSUE Project Room (New York). Stefano Pilia is a Bologna based guitarist and composer. His work has become increasingly closer to the investigation of the sculptural and spatial dimension of sound both through instrumental performance practice and through research into sound recording and production processes. He is among the founders of the group 3 / 4HadBeenEliminated, a synthesis between improvisation, electroacoustic composition and avantrock sensitivity. He plays live mainly solo, with In Zaire. Since 2008 he has been part of Massimo Volume and since 2012 guitarist of Rokia Traoré and since 2015 guitarist in Afterhours. He collaborates regularly with David Grubbs and Andrea Belfi in the BGP trio and in “Sogno del Marinaio” with Mike Watt on bass and Belfi on drums. He has frequently collaborated on the creation of sound (both live and on support) for theatrical productions, readings, films, installations and video art (Gianluigi Toocafondo, Zimmerfrei, NIco Vascellari, Homemovies, Wuming2, Emidio Clementi). He has collaborated with artists and musicians such as John Parish, Phill Niblock, Oren Ambarchi, Alessandra Novaga, Adrian Utley, Marina Rosenfeld, David Tibet and ZU, Giuseppe Ielasi, Z’ev, Black Forest Black Sea, Rhys Chatam, David Maranha, Manuel Mota.
