Devoção
(A piece for roses, turntables, synthesizer, and electronics)
The physical, the unseen, the unspeakable intertwined.
Sound as contemplation, reverence, commitment.
Aural environments as endeavors of enchantment, awe.
Sonic gestures for communion.
An act of love, creation, faith.
Resonate with(in).
Brazilian experimental multi-instrumentalist Carla Boregas follows plates for Bokeh Versions and Hive Mind with a ghostly set of deep listening electronics that plays like a symphony for an imagined woodwind orchestra, one to file next to recent work by Wojciech Rusin, Debit and Bloedneus & de Snuitkever. – Boomkat
BIO CARLA BOREGAS
Carla Boregas is a Brazilian musician, composer and sound artist. By merging synthetic and acoustic instrumentation and techniques, Boregas sculpts sonic scenarios where the sensation of presence and discovery lies between density and delicacy. Her work spans composition, improvisation, performance, sound installation and radio art.
Boregas’s artistic trajectory encompasses a wide range of solo and collaborative projects.
She has co-founded the genre-bending punk band RAKTA; released her solo debut album “Pena ao Mar” on the Swedish imprint iDEAL Recordings; frequently performs in a duo with Brazilian percussionist M. Takara; curates the Berlin-based festival and platform Radical Sounds Latin America; and most recently released a new album with transdisciplinary artist Anelena Toku, titled “Fronte Violeta”, on Nicolás Jaar’s label Other People.
She has toured extensively throughout Europe, North and South America and Japan, with main performances and commissioned works presented at Rewire (NL), CTM Festival (DE), Le Guess Who? (NL), Deutschlandfunk Kultur (DE), Akademie der Künste (DE), Festival Novas Frequências (BR), Festival Música Estranha (BR), Copenhagen Jazz Festival (DK), MUTEK (CA), We Jazz (FIN).

Cluster is a new-music series devoted to the investigation of sound and notation, which provides musicians and composers with an exchange area in Berlin, at the crossroad of compositional and performance practices.
This concert is curated by Labor Neunzehn for Cluster Series and generously supported by inm Berlin e.V
